Jaume Compte
He explores Mediterranean sounds and timbres, incorporating instruments such as the Greek bouzouki, the Arabic oud and percussion instruments like the Persian zarb, as well as various Middle Eastern instruments such as the darbuka, riq, bendirs and other types of tambourines. Therefore, he uses acoustic sounds to craft his own musical discourse, drawing from various Mediterranean traditions while also experimenting with contemporary elements.
In 2001, he released their first CD featuring original compositions titled "Com a Pous de Mar" (Blau-Discmedi, 2001) and began collaborating with the group La Búsqueda, with whom they released two albums: "Las Cosas que no se Ven" (Isladencanta, 2001) and "Los Penitentes" (Grabaciones en el Mar, 2004). In 2006, they completed "Alè" (TempsRecord, 2006), his second solo album, featuring collaborations with, among others, the Indian musician Shyam Sunder, the Cuban singer Odette Telleria (Gemma 4) and the Catalan singer-songwriter Lluís Llach.
With his group NAFAS ENSEMBLE, he released the albums "TARIQ" (Self-published, 2011 / ArcMusic, 2014) featuring special collaborations with artists Francisco Albéniz, Marcel Cranc and Sílvia Pérez Cruz; and "VODA" (Self-published, 2013), a work inspired by Balkan culture.
In 2006, he began a close collaboration with the experimentation and avant-garde project of singer-songwriter Marcel Cranc.
In parallel, he has composed music for advertising, TV, theater and dance, and has collaborated in cinema. He notably composed music for contemporary dance performances such as "Camina-caminaràs" by Cia Laura Girotto and "Estança Carnaval" by Cia Divers Alaria. He participated in the soundtrack of the short film "Es Venen Records" by Pere Salom with music by Francisco Albéniz, which won an award at the Sitges International Film Festival in 2000. Additionally, he collaborated with the composer Aranzazu Calleja on the soundtracks of the short film "Eramos Pocos" directed by Borja Cobeaga (selected for the Oscars in 2007) and the feature film "Pagafantas" by the same director.
Among his recent works, he has created the original music for the theatrical performance "Desconhort de Nostra Dona" by Lina Mira (based on the poem by Ramon Llull with the same name, featuring oud and performed live). He composed the soundtrack for the film "Vida i Mort d'un Arquitecte" by Miguel Eek, collaborated with composer Julie Reier on the soundtrack of the feature film "1000 Coses que Faria per Tu" directed by Dídac Cervera and produced the album "El Calor de la Vida" by singer-songwriter Arantxa Andreu.
He has also collaborated with singer Maria del Mar Bonet on her "Raixa" tour, performing concerts in Istanbul, Quito, Meknes, the Grec Festival in Barcelona, and at Raixa.
